At the Signal Festival, every year we try to present the best of the domestic and international art scene and support all the promising artists. Thanks to international cooperation, we can provide an ideal space for joint inspiration and creation and present a selection of the best that the field of digital art and technology currently has to offer. As a part of the 11th Signal Festival you can look forward to seven leading representatives of the contemporary international new media scene.<\/strong> The international programme of Signal Festival 2023 is supported by the PPF Foundation<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, which is committed to greater involvement of Czech culture in the international context and believes that it is important to enrich our art scene with inspiration from the world. Who can you look forward to?<\/p>\n

Mexican artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer<\/strong><\/span><\/a> will be the biggest foreign star of the 11th edition. His interactive work Thermal Drift<\/em><\/a>, which will be on display at Ly\u010dkovo Square<\/strong>, takes the body temperature of visitors through thermal cameras and converts it into a dynamic large-format projection. In addition to being the observers of the installation, the viewers also become the creators of their own portraits.<\/p>\n

Prague will also host the Norwegian-Portuguese studio Entangled Others<\/strong><\/span><\/a> projecting microorganisms generated by artificial intelligence in videos called Sediment Nodes<\/em><\/a> in Karl\u00edn<\/strong>. The work is sponsored by the insurance company Kooperativa<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, a long-time partner of the Signal Festival.<\/p>\n

Entangled Others “Sediment Nodes”<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Gallery Zone<\/strong><\/span><\/a> will also present the Spanish audiovisual studio Playmodes<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, with the largest installation of this year’s edition, reaching 25 meters in length and over 12 meters in width, called Horizon<\/em><\/a>, in Hall 13 of the Hole\u0161ovice Market Hall<\/strong>. Visitors will experience the feeling of a disappearing and pulsating horizon in front of it.<\/p>\n

You can look forward to breathtaking videomapping<\/strong> in two locations. The work Luminary Glyphs<\/em><\/a> by the Hungarian artist Andr\u00e1s L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Nagy<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0will light up the Central Library on Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 Square for the first time ever. Between the projections you can enjoy a special festival spot by PlayStation<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, revealing a new game presented also by Jan Hladil. The iconic Church of St. Cyril and Methodius<\/strong> on Karl\u00edn Square will be brought to life by the Japanese studio Flightgraf<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with the installation Echo<\/em><\/a>. You can shorten your wait for the videomapping with an interactive countdown by Mercedes-Benz<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in collaboration with the creative studio 3dsense<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

How will the baroque Invalidovna<\/strong> shine in the performance of the Polish collective
\nKsawery Komputery<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with the interactive light installation FLUX 2023<\/em><\/a>, which visitors will be able to control with their own gestures and voice? Get your Signal Plus<\/strong><\/span><\/a> or Signal VIP<\/strong><\/span><\/a> ticket and find out from 12-15 October at the Signal Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n
