For the first time in the history of its existence, thanks to the cooperation with the Prague Castle, the Signal Festival will transform the Prague Castle premises into a projection area and gallery zone. The gallery zone offers the opportunity to experience art in a unique atmosphere. This paid part of the festival, with limited capacity, brings a diverse programme that you will not see at other times. Among other things, it is a unique opportunity to experience the festival truly to the last point on the festival map. This year’s Signal Festival will present 22 installations, 7 of them exclusively in the Gallery Zone, for which you can already buy tickets.

For four days, places such as the Riding Hall of Prague Castle or the Baroque Refectory of the Dominican Monastery will be transformed into places where art and technology and history and the present are combined.

Partner institutions such as Kunsthalle Prague, the Centre for Architecture and Metropolitan Planning (CAMP), and the National Gallery of Prague contribute to an unforgettable once-a-year experience, all within one ticket that will allow you to experience the most of the Signal Festival. In this year’s edition, you can see world-famous artists such as Jiří Příhoda with his Capriccio, Karbola and UAP’s objects, as well as Michael Bielicky and Kamila B. Richter with the installation Columbus 2.0.

As part of this year’s Gallery Zone, you can also get carried away in the Riding Hall of Prague Castle by Korean artist and professor Seohyo, whose work combines inspiration from historical elements of Prague architecture with the media technologies of generative art to create a unique dynamic projection of abstract shapes reflecting the rhythm of the city. Then, in the Baroque Refectory, Bill Fontana, one of the founders of sound art, will remind us of the fragility of climatic and cultural balance in his installation Silent Echoes. He has transported the tones of the silent bells of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris to the icy caves of Dachstein. In total, you can look forward to 7 of the 22 installations in the Gallery Zone. The international programme of Signal Festival 2024 is supported by the PPF Foundation.

Quayola, an Italian immersive artist, focuses on nature, pictorial traditions and new technological devices in his video series Effets de Soir. The title refers to the natural phenomena that can only be observed at dusk and dawn, when light and shadow, warm and cold colours, merge and merge into one another. This audiovisual projection can be enjoyed at the Centre for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP).

The exhibition Strange Attractions, realized in collaboration with Signal Festival and Kunsthalle Prague, presents the current work of the legendary British studio UVA. The exhibition project illuminates the parallels between the unpredictability of chaos theory and the structured patterns that emerge within it. The installation is produced in collaboration with Kunsthalle Praha.

The multimedia theatre ensemble Laterna magika will present a theatre and dance production by director Miřenka Čechová, which draws the viewer into the position of a person waiting on the platform, recording the life stories of the characters through the limited perspective of the windows of a passing train. In cooperation with the National Theatre, Laterna magika will be part of the festival for the third time, and we are really looking forward to it.

For the first time in the history of its existence, thanks to the cooperation with the Prague Castle, the Signal Festival will transform the Prague Castle premises into a projection area and gallery zone.
