Maxim Velčovský (CZ)
Maxim Velčovský is one of the most renowned Czech designers. He graduated from the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague in the Studio of Ceramics and Porcelain. In 2002 he founded Qubus Design Studio with Jakub Berdych. For more than 10 years he was the head of the Ceramics and Porcelain Studio at the Academy of Arts and Crafts in Prague and the creative director of Lasvit. He has participated in over 90 exhibitions and his work can be found in the collections of the V&A Museum in London, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Neue Sammlung in Munich, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Moravian Gallery in Brno. In 2007 he was voted Designer of the Year in the Czech Grand Design awards, and in 2008 he was awarded Commission of the Year by Wallpaper magazine for his installation for the Viennese glass company Lobmeyr.
