Kryštof Brůha (CZ)
Kryštof Brůha is an intermedia artist living and working in Prague, whose work explores specific environments – from the natural to the technological and virtual. He focuses on their influences and their overall transformation over time. He allows us to look at phenomena hidden from our perception, for example through macro and micro mapping of the environment, and through such scanning of space and time through artistic artefacts he offers the viewer a new view of reality. His media include installations, kinetic sculptures, generative videos and experimental films. In the development process, he uses scientific methods, specially designed algorithms, generative design and machine learning. In implementation, Brůha creates custom tools using Rapid Prototyping and CNC technology that are computer controlled. All these technological processes are then reflected in the aesthetics of his works.
Since his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, during which he completed internships at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Indonesian Institute of Art, he has exhibited in national and international galleries. His experimental films “Prologue to Signum Supra” and “Resonare De INTER Solaris” were shown at the Ji.hlava IDFF and were nominated for the Best Czech Experimental Documentary Film. He was awarded the Graphic Artist of the Year – Computer Graphics 2019 and 2021. In the NFT challenge of the Artefin Gallery he won the 1st place in the category of Expert Jury Vote. In 2023 he was the winner of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. He is now the head of the Time-Based Media Studio at the Faculty of Art and Design of the J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem.
