About project
The Echo project, created especially for Signal Festival 2023, is a fresh breeze in the genre of video mapping. Nature, environment, human connection with invisible yet vital natural processes. These are all the themes that underlie the projection at Karlín Square. The façade of the Church of Ss. Cyril and Methodius are transformed into a resonating ecosystem of connections, in which natural and ritualistic processes so necessary for the balance of our lives and the entire human culture are intertwined.
Not everything is so idyllic, though. One risk factor that scientists believe could threaten the health or very existence of life on Earth is the excessive amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The oceans are large reservoirs of dangerous gas.
Phytoplankton is the oldest community of micro-organisms which originated three billion years ago. It is part of the food chain in the sea and contributes to the cycling of life and carbon on Earth. This invisible and seemingly accidental boon which lies deep beneath the surface of the seas also helps us humans. For we are all connected by a kind of unlikely thread of life. We are part of an ecosystem.
Recommendation: Shorten your wait between videomappings with an interactive game with Mercedes-Benz.
The break between projections takes 15 minutes.
