About project
Sculptor Jiří Příhoda created the kinetic object VISTA MARS in 2019. It is located in the public space of the Rustonka administrative complex in Karlín, and contains an exterior 360° video projection of the real landscape of the planet Mars with real footage taken from NASA. The object, which is modelled on the shape of a real research lander on Mars, is made of a steel structure, its exterior cladding is made of polished stainless-steel sheet, and the surface includes an LED video wall. The glossy shell reflects its surroundings consisting of a complex of administrative buildings, contrasting with the arid desert of Mars. One of the most contemporary works in public space, it touches on questions of present and future, vision and reality, and great expectations.
Signal Satellites are works using digital tools, modelling and construction. They are works outside the festival itinerary that can be visited at any time. However, during the festival they will come alive with a special lighting program. These works also fit with this year’s festival theme – Ecosystems: Exploration.
