The Signal Festival team, in cooperation with the Prague City Gallery, bring a unique experience in the environment of the Baroque jewel on the banks of the Vltava River – Troja Castle. Together we will light up the longest night of the year. On 13-14 December 2024, from 17:00 to 23:00, on the occasion of the Feast of St. Lucia, a unique light installation will enliven the castle building. It will be a video mapping created by Ondřej Rakušan in collaboration with artists David Böhm and Jiří Franta. The music for the installation will be created by Aid Kid. The event will also include an accessible gallery zone in the underground Troja Castle, where visitors will be able to see light installations from the GHMP collections.

Digital art meets baroque
The idea of the project is based on the connection between the refined beauty of the Baroque – opulent splendour and geometric order – and contemporary art using current technologies and approaches. We want to show the castle, its fascinating architectural details or sculptural decoration and gardens in a new light, as living, inspiring structures. This modern Baroque-digital celebration of light will allow us to see and understand the principles of Baroque art in a different way than the usual, rational view.
A few steps beyond the Troja footbridge, join us for a toast in the garden of the baroque Troja Castle, where Bistro Karel is located. Great food, fine coffee, organic wines and fermented lemonades await you there.
We look forward to seeing you on 13 and 14 December!

You can also look forward to video mapping!
Sleeping in Progress – the name of the installation you will see at St. Lucia this year.
4 talented artists collaborated on this installation: Ondřej Rakušan, David Böhm – Jiří Franta & Aid Kid
The main inspiration for the video mapping installation are the drawings of the artist duo David Böhm and Jiří Franta. The black-and-white pen drawings, which are created as a daily work of the experienced hands of the artists, are full of almost Dadaist exaggeration. The projections in the context of the historical facade of the castle are reminiscent of illusory Renaissance sgraffito, which are combined with random textual messages that often accompany the daily works in progress.
The figurative “sleep that is in progress” connotes the fact that St. Lucia is the patron saint of the blind and eye defects. Animator Ondřej Rakušan retains elements from both worlds – both from popular video mapping installations and the wit contained in the artistic style of both artists.
The dynamic soundtrack was created by producer Aid Kid, whose music gives the installation a modern twist.
