This year’s festival will light up the Archbishop’s Palace and the Municipal Library of Prague!

28. 8. 2024 → Signal 2024

As part of the twelfth edition of the Signal Festival, you can look forward to video mappings that will illuminate two buildings in the centre of historic Prague. The Archbishop’s Palace on Hradčanské náměstí will be transformed by the artistic projection Eternal Recurrence by digital artist Filip Hodas. This Czech, but internationally renowned artist, whose works are going viral, masterfully plays with the boundary between fiction and reality. Music and sound design of the videomapping was created by Pavel Ridoško alias Rido.

The facade of the Municipal Library of Prague on Mariánské náměstí inspired a videomapping show by the Spanish-Danish visual group Desilence. Their projection The Rhythm of the Ocean will transport you to the depths of a powerful element with a musical accompaniment by five Grammy Award nominee Suzanne Ciani.

The projections will also include specially created short video mapping spots by the festival partners ZDR Investments and Pražská plynárenská.

Filip Hodas → Eternal Recurrence

Videomapping Eternal Recurrence will add new dimensions and stories to the history of the Archbishop’s Palace, which has stood at Hradčany since the 16th century. This layered videomapping will highlight the various architectural elements of the magnificent mansion. The late Baroque palace with its rococo facade will be used by the projectionist Filip Hodas to tell a digital saga about the origin and evolution of life forms.

The Czech artist with more than half a million followers on Instagram has won fans around the world. His most popular series, 2018’s Pop Culture Dystopia, has gone viral.

Desilence → The Rhythm of the Ocean

A well-known and frequently visited point of the Signal Festival is the Mariánské náměstí and with it the building of the Municipal Library of Prague. This year, the spacious facade will serve as a modern large screen for the video mapping project called The Rhythm of the Ocean. The visual spectacle is the result of the creative imagination of the Desilence studio and the creative duo of Tatiana Halbach from Spain and Søren Christensen from Denmark.

The austere neo-classical façade of the Municipal Library of Prague will transform before the eyes of the audience into a wild and unrestrained element whose constant movement paradoxically maintains the climatic balance.
